I need advise on protecting my Computer?

I need advise on protecting my computer. Several things are going


on I cannot explain. I am not experienced in things like this so forgive me.





I'm having serious problems being able to view pages using IE.


3/4 of the time I keep getting a ie cannot show this page kind of


message. In addition programs that worked one day are mysteriously not working a few days later. Even though I haven't


used them.





I've just scanned my system for viruses, adware, spyware, malware etc and have found low to medium threats. I've removed


them. Inspite of removing threats things are going on I cannot


explain. I may be inexperienced but I'm not so that I could wreak this kind of havoc on my own system.





I do run norton, zone alarm, windows defender, ad-aware and a


program that looks for malware. But I still think that my system is


being jacked with from the outside.





My windows update doesn't work right. I have trouble updating norton and other stuff.





Am I forgetting Something?I need advise on protecting my Computer?
Not all viruses etc... are known yet. You may have some smalls ones that are not common enough for the big wigs to know about. Be careful what sites you look at.I need advise on protecting my Computer?

you can use a internet firewall to block stuff.
Spybot + Avast virus scanner
Reformat your hard drive and reinstall all the software. Do not browse before you install necessary protection like antispy , antivirus etc. A yahoo toolbar can prevent many popups.
Be aware that some of the anti-spyware programs may install spyware so try to read some independent reviews to be sure these are reliable programs.
