I'm bipolalr (manic depressive), and am curious since not so many years ago most of your religions would have burned me at the stake as an instrument of the devil. How many of you would advise that I pray for health?
I would advise you not to pray at all. Studies that have been conducted on prayer have actually found that people who know they are being prayed for end up having more complications and longer hospitalization periods (it was conducted on heart surgery patients). There was no difference between those who knew that they might be prayed for and those who were not prayed for at all. It was also found that the specific deity that was prayed for did not matter either, be it Jesus, Allah, Ra, Vishnu, or Zeus. How many of you would advise that I pray for health?
Prayer is very powerful if you believe in Jesus. A book that helped me was ';Power of a Praying Woman'; by Stormie Omartian.
Open your heart. I believe the Lord is knocking at the door of your heart.
Will you open?
Another good book is ';purpose driven life'; by Rick Warren.
This is how much God loves you. Read this love letter.

Jeremiah 29:11-13
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
Psalm 30:2
O LORD my God, I called to you for help and you healed me.

Praying is pointless. As is modern medicine--to be honest. Therapy might have some sort of effect, but not too much. You're you. You're a manic depressive person. So long as you let it be debilitating, it won't really be too much of a problem.
always pray. for health, salvation, peace. no matter who you are.
Certainly pray for health. Work for it too. correct your diet. Get some exercise. get trace minerals, choose to be healthy.
Oh SNAP!
I recommend seeing a doctor to get some medication if you need it.
If you want to get God's attention and want your prayer to stand out among all the other prayers: Ask for understanding instead of healing.
As an atheist, I don't believe in prayer--and repeated scientific studies suggest that you not rely on it either. I'd guess that's not your question, but that you're asking those who believe in prayer if they would really encourage you to leave your medication and go on prayer. That's a big leap of faith, and I've not seen many besides the highly deluded Christian Scientist who would really do that or advocate it for someone else.
Stay on your meds and have a great life--sound like you are already :)
i do u really should sometimes its just a mind thing and you think that you are sick but your not but yea you should pray
praying does nothing, doctors are very helpful.
Going to see you local GP would probably be alot more productive.
I strongly advise you pray for health. If you accept Christ into your life and pray truly believing he will heal your mind, then He willl. With God all things are possible!
I would rather you seek professional attention - bipolar disorders can be managed.
I would advise you to pray for your health. I do not see what you talking to God has to do with some religions in the past burning people at the stake.
Yes, you should pray. I am bipolar too, and I really do believe that God has been with me through my ';episodes';. He gave me comfort when I was fearful and confused. I believe He gave me this affliction for a reason, although I'm still trying to figure out why. I too was very successful until I was hit with mania and then severe depression. Best Wishes and God Bless!
